The 5-Minute Addicting Appetizer

Next time you get invited to a dinner party but don't have time to cook, offer to bring an appetizer and then make this 5-Minute Bread Dip. Just stop by your local bakery for a fresh loaf, and you’re all set! The recipe combines herbs, spices, and olive oil. And if you add fresh garlic it's even more delicious.

Here’s a pro tip: Use a grate plate (yes, we sell these too!) to mince your garlic right on the plate for easy cleanup and maximum flavor infusion.

Why you should blend your own seasonings:
  • Personalized: Customize the flavors to your taste.
  • Sustainable: Use up older spices.
  • Affordable: Single spices are often cheaper than seasoning blends.
  • Safer: Skip additives and preservatives in store-bought mixes.

Homemade Bread Dip Recipe

A pile of various spices mixed together to create a Bread Dip spice

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup Italian seasoning (or a mix of oregano, basil and rosemary)
  • 1 - 2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp garlic granules
  • 1 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp onion granules
  • 1 - 2 tsp kosher salt*
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly ground

*Tip: Our kosher flake salt is similar density to Diamond Kosher. If using table salt, halve the amount.

Spice Mix Directions:

Mix everything in a bowl.

The recipe makes a heaping 1/3 cup.

Bread Dip Directions:

Mix a few tablespoons olive oil together with a tsp of bread dip. It's best if it can sit for at least 30-minutes. You can keep adding more olive oil! Add minced garlic to make it spectacular.

More Flavor Variations:

  • Make it Smoky: 1 tsp of smoked paprika or a pinch of smoked salt to add a new layer of flavor.
  • Boost the Umami: Add 1/2 tsp mushroom powder to make it more savory.
  • Make it Middle-Eastern: Skip the Italian herbs and use za'atar. Replace chili flakes with urfa biber or Aleppo flakes!
